  • If I like RC flying as much as I predict, I want to build a FT Sea Duck next and fly it while we go boating and salmon fishing in the Columbia River. Your yard and area look nice. I have 4 acres, but only a small part is open-ish... lots of trees to dodge.
Hello from Washington State in the Pacific Northwest of America. I've been watching MANY videos and have committed to owning, flying and building some RC airplanes. I've never flown one. I REALLY like the flight characteristics of your FT Mini-Speedster / Biplane modification you posted in what, 2 videos? Would this make a decent beginner airplane? My Sport Cub S2 I just got won't even turn on. Frustrated. C

You want to learn to fly towards you because for a beginner, thats the hardest thing. Then practice landings. In real life, the most important thing is to bring the plane back to the ground. Landings are more tricky than loops and rolls, so practice them A LOT!

If you dont know if you want to stay in the hobby, buy cheap gear first. I would also suggest to buy it used. The last thing you want to do is buy 200$ transmitter, 50$ charger, etc. If you know for sure that you want to stay in the hobby, I would suggest the Jumper T16 transmitter. Its under 200$ and you get 16channels, Open TX, a multiprotocol module, so that you can bind almost all recievers.

This TX is a bit of a learning curve, but once you understand it, you wont need another TX for a long time.
